Essays and Research Papers

The essays and research papers represent the most deliberate stage of this project. What begins as scattered notes or brief reflections matures into structured work that is grounded in evidence and shaped by clear arguments. These pieces bring together philosophy, economics, literature, and personal experience, showing how reading and reflection evolve into writing that not only records ideas but also tests and refines them. Each paper marks a point where curiosity becomes inquiry and where inquiry becomes a step toward understanding.

This section reflects the project’s commitment to consistency, clarity, and continuity. Papers are written with attention to detail and with the intention of connecting across fields rather than isolating subjects. A study of resilience in mountaineering, for example, may inform a perspective on resilience in investing. A reading of Aristotle or Mises may provide language for thinking about decision-making or systems of governance. In this way, each piece stands on its own yet contributes to a broader lattice of ideas, linking disciplines that are often studied apart but that, when brought together, reveal shared principles.

Over time, this collection will become more than an archive of writing. It will become a record of transformation, showing how thought deepens through the process of drafting, revising, and presenting ideas in their most developed form. The essays and research papers demonstrate that intellectual growth is not about reaching final conclusions but about creating a framework where knowledge builds on itself and remains open to refinement. This is the space where reflection turns into analysis, and where analysis takes its place within a larger and still-growing body of work.

Project Title: FROM ICONS TO INSTITUTIONS: BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY'S TEST OF GOVERNANCE RESILIENCE

Berkshire Hathaway is preparing for a historic shift as Warren Buffett steps aside at the end of 2025 and Greg Abel takes over as CEO. This transition marks a defining test of whether a trillion-dollar company built on trust, value investing, and decentralized management can thrive without its legendary founders. With Ajit Jain, Todd Combs, Ted Weschler, Howard Buffett, and Susan Decker supporting the transition, the plan aims to turn Berkshire’s culture into lasting institutions rather than the vision of one man. The study shows that Berkshire’s future will hinge on Abel’s leadership, teamwork across the board, and the market’s confidence—making this one of the most important governance experiments of our time.

Project Title: FROM PHILOSOPHY TO PRACTICE: A FRAMEWORK FOR A HANDS OFF BUSINESS IMPLEMENTED THROUGH AN INVESTMENT LLC

This presents the vision behind the Heirloom Legacy Project (HLP), a working framework still in progress. Built on five pillars—structure, portfolio, income, ownership, and strategy—and emphasizes resilience, patience, and stewardship over rapid expansion.

The LLC, established through the state and banking done with Fidelity Investments, serves as a disciplined platform for wealth creation. Its approach blends value investing principles (Graham), multidisciplinary decision-making (Munger), and adaptability (Prasad & Sagan) with rigorous data analysis, risk assessment, and scenario planning. By combining conservative protection with selective exposure to emerging technologies, HLP positions itself as a durable, intergenerational enterprise.

At its core, HLP is more than just a financial structure for a business: it is a philosophy of patient stewardship and intergenerational leadership, designed to withstand market cycles and deliver lasting value for the future of it members.

Project Title: CONSTRUCTING A PERSONAL INTROSPECTIVE FRAMEWORK: A SYSTEM OF READING, WRITING, AND REFLECTION

This essay argues that disciplined reading and reflective writing form a lifelong system for growth, resilience, and clarity. What began as a playful contest to read more books evolved into a structured intellectual practice rooted in note-taking, comparative analysis, and synthesis across disciplines. Drawing on philosophy, economics, psychology, and literature, the work shows how habits of reading and writing cultivate judgment, integrate personal experience with scholarly traditions, and extend beyond private study into business, community, and intellectual contribution.
